Online Counseling for Women in California
Like many of you, when the pandemic hit, my work transitioned to an online platform. I loved working with clients in person and I was disappointed, confused, and worried. Would clients want to be seen over a screen? Would I struggle to give the same experience with online counseling for women that they were used to having? Could therapy translate well to a new format in the midst of an uncertain and chaotic world?
The truth is, many clients took a break thinking it would only be a few weeks or maybe a month or two before they could come back to the office. In the same way, I held the space open for them hoping that I would get to see them face-to-face in the coming weeks.
As the world shifted, though, online therapy blossomed and clients found that they could still experience self-care and the therapeutic connection from the comfort of their homes. I fell in love with therapy in a new way and am thrilled that I have the opportunity to work with clients who live in rural areas of California, those who feel a world away in the 405 traffic to Los Angeles, or clients who are immunocompromised and would never have been able to meet with me in person.
Online Counseling for Women Still Provides a Therapeutic Space
While I’m back to the office on some days, I feel grateful that I can continue to connect with clients through online therapy and I imagine it will likely always be a part of my practice.
I’ve seen firsthand that online counseling for women works. It might look a lot different than the stereotype of slightly worn seats in a calming office with hopeful quotes and soothing art on the walls. These days the picture is often of a closeup in the car while you wait to pick your kids up from soccer, a mid-day therapy and lunch from your office, or an evening in sweats and an old t-shirt from your own couch.
The physical space may be different, but the therapeutic space is always present. It is a space for you to feel seen and known for who you truly are, accepted on your best and your worst days, cheered on for celebrations, and challenged to move towards creating the change you crave. Therapy isn’t a place. Therapy is belonging whether it’s across a screen or across a couch. I hope you’ll meet me in that space.
Online Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety can be overwhelming. It can often feel unexpected, frustrating, and scary. It can lead to feelings of shame or embarrassment as you wonder what went wrong and why your body and mind aren’t on the same page with what you want for yourself. Anxiety can show up at any stage of life either in response to a real stressor (e.g., an exam, stressful drive, or a date) or can seem to come out of nowhere.
Maybe your mind plays a loop of doom and gloom - always fixated on the worst case scenarios. Or maybe you feel stuck replaying social events picking apart every possible thing you may have done “wrong." Online Anxiety Therapy will help you slow down so you can notice what triggers you, practice shifting how you relate to big emotions, and allow yourself to make choices that are aligned with what you value.
Online Therapy for Individual Well-Being
Let’s take your emotional temperature…. How do you feel about you? Oftentimes, we can get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget to slow down and check in with ourselves.
As women, it can be especially hard to hit pause, to check in with our own needs, and to give ourselves that space. All while simultaneously juggling the outside pressures of our work, family, and friends. There are a lot of things that we value that demand our time and attention and it can be easy to let ourselves slip down to the bottom of the priority list.
Let’s take a quick break to check-in with yourself:
What do I like about myself?
Am I valuing my own needs?
Am I asking others to meet my needs?
How have I been talking about myself lately?
Am I prioritizing my physical and emotional health?
Am I holding healthy boundaries with loved ones, friends, and co-workers?
Do I say NO to things that drain me so that I can say YES to the things that fulfill me?
Am I creating space to learn about myself? My triggers? My sensitivities? My strengths? My values?
When we change the way that we relate to ourselves, prioritizing our needs and well-being, we can better engage in our busy lives in a way that honors our own values. If you’ve been struggling with connecting to your own needs, establishing healthy boundaries, or knowing what you want, Online Individual therapy can help you learn to better identify your emotions, know what you need when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and prepare you to create the changes you desire.
Online Counseling for Women's Trauma Treatment
Research tells us that half of people will experience a trauma throughout their lifetime and that women are twice as likely to develop PTSD. Trauma can develop due to any situation that causes a physical or emotional threat. Many of the women I work with struggle with the impact of trauma on their bodies. While the flight, fight, or freeze response is our body’s natural way of protecting us, it can leave us feeling confused and powerless. Online Therapy for Women's Trauma Treatment can help you learn to address these thoughts and increase acceptance towards your experience, your mind, and your body.
Starting Womens Trauma Treatment can feel like a scary and vulnerable step. As an online female therapist, my role is to help empower you as you take those steps. We’ll work together to help you build the tools you need to get back to building the life you want.
Online EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles
EMDR is one of the most highly requested services at Worth and Wellness Psychology. With modern technology, I love that I can easily provide clients with online EMDR therapy when they want to address anxiety and/or trauma online. EMDR trauma therapy is a structured approach that encourages clients to briefly place their focus on trauma-based or difficult memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation, which is associated with reductions in the heightened emotional experiences related to trauma.
In my practice, I often engage EMDR for clients struggling with anxiety, trauma, and/or PTSD, as well as for those with phobias (e.g., fear of driving, flying, heights, etc…). Clients who engage in online EMDR therapy often remark that they like that they can take a break from home after a session, rather than having to hop back in their car and sit in traffic.
Online Individual Therapy for Relationships
Relationships. Relationships are beautiful, and stressful, and fulfilling, and confusing, and even when we’re in healthy relationships, they are still HARD WORK. Can you relate?
Oftentimes, clients starting online counseling for women to address relationships start off by describing their partner’s contribution to the dynamics. Guess what? This is one of my favorite parts of being a clinician. Sometimes we get so caught up in our partner’s you name it (e.g., short comings, quirks, communication styles) that we forget just how important a piece of the dynamic that we are. I love empowering my clients to see how they are showing up in relationships, how this started loooong before they met that partner, friend, or co-worker, and how they can change this by changing their relationship with themselves.
If you notice that you keep repeating patterns or feel like you’re reliving the same type of relationship, just with different people then online individual therapy for relationships may be just the right fit for you.
Online Therapy for Dating in Los Angeles
Dating can often become a microwaved way of learning about our own needs, patterns, insecurities, and strengths. It is where we often become aware of our need for healthy boundaries, where we discover our own not-so-fun reactions when we’re feeling stressed, triggered, or feeling unimportant or unseen by our partners.
Maybe you already know what your pattern looks like. It may be that you worry about the stability of your relationship. That you may be more invested than your partner and it results in you creating fights, looking for infidelities, or lashing out with name calling and accusations. Or it may be that you withdraw and shut down engaging in a pattern of punishing your partner when feeling triggered. Perhaps you don’t know what your pattern looks like yet, but you’re ready to learn more about yourself so that you can draw in and date a partner that sees your true value. If so, reach out to learn more about how online therapy for dating can help you grow into the version of yourself you want to be.
Online Counseling for Women of Color in California
As a biracial woman, I welcome conversations surrounding identity, intersectionality, minority stress, and helping you identify and relate to yourself in a way that honors who you want to show up as in the world. You deserve a place to feel seen, understood, and valued.
Oftentimes when I meet with women of color (WOC) during consultation calls, they remark that it is hard to find a female therapist who understands. Did you know that women of color clinicians make up less than 5% of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers available to treat patients? When it comes to your mental health, it is important to find a clinician that fits your own unique needs.
I know it can be discouraging to feel misunderstood or as if certain parts of you go unseen in the world. Therapy is a space to pause, to show up as your vulnerable and soft self knowing that you will be honored. I work to create a space where you can be all of you. If you would like to continue this conversation, reach out to learn more about online counseling for women of color.
Online Therapy for Therapists
As therapists, we spend much of our time creating beautiful spaces for wholeness and healing. The practice of creating and holding this space can feel harder on days when we have our own stressors going on. Maybe you’ve recently gone through a breakup or divorce, maybe you’re grieving the loss of a family member or cherished pet. Or perhaps, you’re realizing you feel burned out and need to prioritize your own self-care. Whatever has come up for you, it would be my honor to help support you and cheer you on as you prioritize your own wellness.
